Thank you so much for your support by pre-registering for the New Year festival. So far we have about 400 people confirmed. We are thrilled to see all of you this Saturday (Feb 4th) afternoon and I wish you have a great time at the party. To ensure that you have a wonderful experience, I want to clarify a few things about the event:

  1. Social party starts at 3:30PM in the cafeteria. Dinner starts at 4:30PM and ends at 6PM. We will, however, stop serving food after 5:45PM. So please come in as early as possible – What could be better than hanging out with your friends at the party, anyway?
  2. No food is allowed outside of cafeteria.
  3. Between 6:00-6:30PM, please transition to the auditorium, where performance starts at 6:30PM. Cafeteria will be closed for clean up.
  4. Children’s activities: there will be children’s games in the cafeteria between 3:30-6:00PM. Between 6:30-9:00PM, the performance will start with children’s programs first, followed by magic show and red pockets, which hopefully can keep the kids entertained. We will also have a movie room open between 6:30-9PM for those who can’t stay in the auditorium. Kids 6 years or younger will need their guardians present all the time. Again, no running in the hallway.
  5. If you have any questions or need help during the event, please talk to our WCCA committee members or volunteers. There are also signs for direction to the cafeteria and the movie room.
  6.  About e-tag: sorry we will not send out e-tag due to technical difficulty. You will still need to get a stamp at one of the check-in decks. For those who will register on-site, there is a separate deck for you to do so.

I look forward to seeing all of you at the party and wish you a great weekend!

  Dear WCCA Members and Friends:

龙年大吉! Wish you happy holidays and all the best for the New Year 2012!

WCCA cordially invites you to join our party on Feb 4th at Newtown High School to celebrate the 2012 Chinese New Year. As many of you who have attended the party before know, the Chinese New Year party is the largest annual event hosted by WCCA and provides a great opportunity for many west Connecticut residents (both Chinese and those who are interested in Chinese culture) to celebrate one of the most important Chinese holidays, have fun, and mingle with friends.

Download the brochure with more information about the event and registration form. Please feel free to forward the brochure to your friends and colleagues who may not on our mailing list. To help us plan for the event ahead of time, we would greatly appreciate it if you can send in your registration form in advance (before Jan 22nd, 2012).

Although we have a group of enthusiastic and warm-hearted volunteers for the event, we can always use more help. If you are interested in volunteering your time to help out the New Year event and/or becoming a WCCA committee member, please send us an email at: wccapresident@gmail.com with your contact information or talk to any of our WCCA committee members. We will be very happy to have you and I am sure you will make a few great friends and gain valuable experience while helping out.

I also want to emphasize a few other things. First, we will not sell tickets separately only for the performance. WCCA is a non-profit organization funded by all of us and for all of us. (All WCCA spending in the past is on website for your review) The major source of funding is from our members and friends – We need and very much appreciate your support. The membership fee is your donation to WCCA and will be used to support not only the New Year party but also all other WCCA events in 2012. Second and very importantly, parents, please take care of your children at all time during the event and make sure they don’t run wild J at the event location. We know kids can get excited and hope the games and performance can keep them occupied, but we do urge that parents be responsible for their kids' own safety as we try to eliminate any possible incident during the event and we do want to show our appreciation to all of our performers as well.

Lastly, on behalf of all WCCA committee members, I wish you have a great time during the holidays and hope to see you at the Chinese New Year party!

Best regards,

Zhixiao Wang

President of WCCA, 2011
